An update & 打上花火 (Fireworks) - DAOKO x 米津玄師 (Piano & Guitar Duet)

Here's a much-needed update! A lot has happened since I've last updated the site, which consisted of graduating from music school, and finishing architecture school, and moving to Regina for an architecture job, and moving back to Edmonton for another architecture job, only to be slightly where I started. Sometimes it's weird how the world brings you full circle to a place you thought you'd be many years ago. I'm currently studying for exams and logging hours to become a landscape architect at the architecture firm. And unfortunately, music has kind of been pushed to the side in order to progress my professional career.

On the other hand, I've found time on the side to still manage to help organize a small group of musicians who've formed "Orbis" and play various conventions such as Animethon in Edmonton and Otafest in Calgary, Alberta. I had taken part in my office band as well at one point. And on the side, I'm still learning guitar - one day I'll get it, and even adopted a dog. I went to Japan as well recently, and made the following video with the person I went with. If you've time, make sure to check out his other stuff too! Enjoy!

Songwriters' Concert - Hearts to the Test

The end of the school year, as well as end of my two years at Grant MacEwan University for my diploma in music is drawing so near! Time honestly flies by so quickly when you're so busy having a blast.

But on that note, I had the opportunity to play in the Haar Theatre at my school for the Songwriters' Concert. And I got to play one of my very own original songs, "Hearts to the Test". ♥ And of course, the awesome band I got to play with: Shawn Gan on bass, Nick Belma on acoustic guitar, James Whyte on drums and Annie Burch singing back-ups~ Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy it!

Songwriters' Coffeehouse I & General Ensemble Coffeehouse

Things got pretty hectic, and I never got a chance to update you guys about how things have been going! ..I'm so sorry! I'll try to get something new up and about as soon as I can~ :D

But in the last few months, there's been a few coffeehouses I played in at school. And so, here's a glimpse of that:

Songwriters' Coffeehouse:
(Playing my original songs, "Secret" & "Flashback" with my band: Shawn Gan, Sean Gristwood, Shaun Hwang)

General Ensemble Coffeehouse:
(Covering YUI's "Good-bye Days")

The One

So, this is a new song I wrote randomly some time last week. The outcome of procrastinating, thinking too much, and trying to start a song for a collab project with other people and liking it so much that you end up finishing it yourself. ♥

November 10th's a special day for me, or at least it should be...

Please go check it out! :D

三日月 / Crescent Moon

I've been really behind on updating my youtube. I'll try to get things going again once I have a chance!
There's lots of things in the works, and all I can really ask for is patience at this point~

Anywho, I stumbled upon this really pretty song called 「三日月」or in english translation, "Crescent Moon".
Ended up deciding to cover it and just have a bit of fun with it.

Something More Than Maybe

It's been a while...and many things have changed yet again...but in the long-run, I'm still headed towards that one goal, and nothing will change that. No one said it would be an easy road...and here I am crazily trying to take it.

Anyways...a new song I wrote...titled "Something More Than Maybe" is up. :D
So go check it out~<3
